Born. 18.3.2007, Bm golden, bitch Breeder: Kirsti Korpikallio,
Hailuoto (kennel
Hienohelman) Eyes checked and clear of HC (2/2008)
I had dreamed for a while that if Rasmuses brother Remu would have progeny someday, I would like to have a puppy of that litter. I had followed him grow and seen his results and met him many times and had nothing bad to say about him. So when Kirsti told me about the plans to mate Khaos Zany "Mira" with Remu, I was naturally excited and reserved a male puppy from the upcoming litter.
As it then turned out, our family
extended with a
new member, Noki-saluki, over a half year before Remu x Mira
litter was due. It seemed I couldn't take yet another dog to live
with us, since Noki was still just a youngster when the long expected
afghan hound puppies arrived into the world. Still I couldn't
let go of my dream of
Remu's puppy, and luckily I found out that one of my friends,
Laura-Elina wanted to
fill her big dream of getting an afghan hound and it seemed to be a
good timing to her too. She was also interested in
this same litter I was, so I decided to change my reservation for a
female puppy
and we would then buy the puppy together with Laura-Elina.
We were at second place on the
reservation
list for female-puppies, as Lena, who is the owner of the dam Mira, was
at first
place naturally. The whelping started around 6 pm and it seemed like
all of the puppies had been born until 9 pm. There was just one
girl among them.. Laura-Elina and me were almost certain that we had
not been lucky
enough to have a puppy this time, but Myy was just keeping us excited!
There was then
a few hour pause in the delivery, but at 11.30 pm it started again and
Myy was suddenly born! She
was the last one of the litter, and had a starshaped mark on her
forehead. Oh how happy we were!
Eventually when old enough Myy moved to Ikaalinen. She lives there now with Laura-Elina, her boyfriend and Bambi-saluki as her big sister. Her brother Nemo also lives nearby and she has even more friends living at Laura-Elina's parents household (swedish vallhund Inkkari and finnish reindeer herder Pihla) so she sure does have friends to play with. Myy was named after a character of Tove Jansson's Moomin books, little My. And could there be a name more describing! Just like her excemplar, she is also proven to be very outgoing, temperamental, energetic and self-assured youngster.
Myy has also attended a few
trackracing practises and shown great
enthusiasm when chasing the lure! Also obedience training seems to be
fun for her! Later on she will also attend shows
and we will follow her development with great interest.
